YET

here's a short story about a girl without a job.

once upon a time, she had an interview. she felt confident about the interview, and was feeling very sure that God had provided this job for her. a few days later, she received an email telling her that she actually had not gotten the job. She then left for work.

The first 2 hours of her work shift, she spent angry. teeth gritting, muscles tensing, angry. angry mostly at God. irritated at all of His "sanctification tricks." discouraged, pessimistic, fed up. angry. she fought with God. WHY hadn't a job shown up yet? WHY was so much uncertain? HOW were her and her husband going to survive without her working?

she fought for a while. then the fighting became more difficult. an obscure, unknown, unexpected peace began to fill her. she fought it of course. she just wanted to be angry. and then, as if spoken, these words were in her head:

"The Lord gives, and the Lord takes away. May the name of the Lord be praised!” (Job [ironic name for a book of Bible that comes to mind] 1:2-4)

and then later:

"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." (Psalm 42:5)

I WILL YET PRAISE HIM.

it was hard to be angry from that point on. she didn't understand, she still was discouraged, but she will yet praise Him. Because He is God.
